If a Tent Is On the Wedding Registry ...

I do not like tents. Don't know why. Maybe it's because they are made of fabric and I don't like sewing either. Maybe it's because tents have bugs in them, but my house does too (sometimes.) Maybe it's because I am sure the crazy people will look in every backyard until they find a tent with gullible people with insufficient life insurance sleeping there and ....

Okay. Suffice it to say. Tents + Caution = Yucky.

So that's why when Checkered's coworkers wanted to give us a wedding gift many moons ago, he asked for a tent. A superduper, big, yellow I promise I'm not kidding tent.

And now, every July week during scout day camp, Checkered and the kids put that tent up and sleep out all week. That is the only use our wedding gift tent gets.

It's sweet. It's a tradition. My kids lovelovelove it. My husband loves it until he remembers the neighbor's security light, the neighbor's new barking puppy, and that he can't move the next morning.

And lonely old Caution (aka part of the team)?

Asleep in her king size bed - right down the middle.

Maybe his coworkers knew a thing or two about wedding gifts afterall.

Have fun out there in the tent, Sweethearts!

Nothing like sleeping in a king size bed by yourself right in the middle. If only for a few nights!
Way to hold your ground and not be swayed by the great outdoors!

LOL too funny we have two tents that i swear have been set up in the yard twice and both times the kids would not stay out in them for more than an hour...mike and I totally agree WHY would either of us want to sleep out in a tent when OUR queen sized bed is right inside in the air conditioned house... we would NOT so the brand new 15 yr old tents stay in the shed and wait....

We bought a tent. We bought a really nice tent about oh say... five years ago. It's never gone up once. I keep promising. I will do it. Maybe. Eventually. At my parents house they can put it up, they have a nice vast area to "camp." But then... they have bears too. Maybe we won't put it up. You get me don't you? We get each other. I WANT to be the mom who camps. It just never happens.

I like your new blog home!! After a click, I'm there immediately!

My opinions of tents are much the same as yours. Kids do love tents, though......our kids would excitedly put one up in the summer.....sleep in it once, and then there it stood for a couple weeks, occupied by dolls and stuffed animals. One day while we were at church a wind storm came along and blew the tent away....but we found it intact and standing out in the field.

That is so freaking AWESOME that they do that! I love it! Of course, I'd be in the bed too.

You sound like my husband. He feels so strongly about NOT sleeping in a tent that he built a cabin on our property instead.

I don't mind tents as long as they don't smell moldy--yuk.
