- Imagine my joy yesterday when I read that Detroit is the 8th worst skin city. Weather, health care, stress all contributed to the rankings.
- Our television gave up the ghost in early May. Checkered and I independently declared that we would wait ALL summer and then some before we would consider buying another one. We meant it!
- Our new t.v. came home Friday night.
- I may just throw up if one of us says again, "Look at that beautiful picture."
- My first son continues his Boy Scout merit badge requirement of spending 30 days recording which birds eat from our bird feeder. I've never been a bird-watcher, but this has been kind of fun.
- The kids sorted through their left-over school supplies over the week-end. The oldest brought home NOTHING. She threw away everything while at school. The youngest brought home 5000 pounds of broken crayons. He said all his intact crayons had been stolen. The middle kids brought home full garbage bags of papers which we enjoyed sending to the recycling container.
- I was always the student who brought home all those papers.
- Wallpaper removal project resumes today after a brief hiatus imposed by the arrival of my children's summer break.
- One of our many unemployed friends says the worst part of job searching is how many employers don't even acknowledge that he has applied to work for them or do not contact him at all after an interview. He says he would much prefer a rude, "No," to listening to the sound of nothing.
- I haven' t seen my younger sister in two years. She and her kids will be in Kentucky this week-end visiting my parents.
- Guess where I'm headed Friday? :)

Hey, I'd be interested to know what kinds of birds visit your feeder.
Sounds like you'll be headed to KY to meet up with your sister? Where does she live?
Enjoy your week!
I always contact someone, whether they get the job or not, but I admit it is sometimes a difficult call, since some people(obviously in need of a job badly)almost try to convince you that you really should hire them, because...
But I would never leave someone wondering like that; it's cruel. ~Mary
so you are heading to KY :) and then to GA right LOL... seriously have fun and enjoy seeing your sister!
Enjoy your visit with your sister.
My kids have been bringing home their "stuff" in dribbles....hate that!
End of the year school stuff dumping - rewarded with a new TV! I bet that picture is beautiful :)
Have fun wallpapering and visiting your sister in KY! You'll be close to spittin' distance from Ethel and me....
Lucy
Take those 5000 crayons and a cupcake baking tin, spray with some Pam, and fill with the unwrapped broken crayon pieces 1/4 full, melt the crayon cookies in a 300 degree oven...let the boys do it with sister helping. You can either make solid crayon cookies or multi colored cookies that are so much fun to color with.
A new TV...what fun!
Seeing your sister in KY...priceless!
The dreaded school papers. Ugh. But on a happy note! Have a wonderful trip;) And how good is that picture?
I love the 5000 lbs of broken crayons. MANY MANY years ago, when I was a brand new teacher, I taught kindergarten and we teachers would take all those broken crayons and melt them into these cool, swirly looking big crayons... kids loved to use them!
lord...that was a long time ago....
We still marvel at the awesome quality of our new tv and its been almost a year. LOL
Enjoy Kentucky!! :)
I bet your turning yourself loose in Kentucky to visit your sister... and the rest of the family. Have a great trip.
It's been so long since I was in school I don't remember bringing stuff home. I must have because every now and then I run across a report card or a paper I wrote in first grade or something.
Glad you held out on the t.v. You made it longer than we would have around here.
Helen
Have a wonderful sister visit! I want pics!
Enjoy your trip! And I agree with the rest, melt down the crayons. We did that in heart shapes for P to pass out for Valentine's Day this year. Everyone loved them.
Enjoy your time with your sister!
My kids came home with schoolbags full of dirt, sticks and papers...
The picture clarity of the 'new' tv's are amazing!
ENJOY your weekend! I luv KY countryside views!
The DREADED wallpaper removal.....UGH!!!!
My 14 year old is a boy scout also. Right now, we are waiting for him to present his proposed eagle project to the scout committee. Idea #1 died from lack of response, Idea #2 died because of lack of time due to a town vote (long story) and this is Idea #3. Let's hope three time is a charm.
One year, we were at my son's school at the end of the year for a yearend event. I suggested that he get his stuff out of his locker. Oh my. I had no idea. It was stuffed as full as could be and he had 2 winter coats in there!! My son is many things but organized is not one of them.
At school, I always stand in the hall with a big bin, saying to kids during locker clean-out, "Wait! Don't throw that away; it's perfectly good!!" Maybe the oldest brother helped a teacher for next year :) And BTW, I hated that badge requirement, too. Maybe if you get different seed? My son is starting his Eagle project this week. Seeing the light at the end of the Scouting tunnel... :)
