Poor little fella!!! Nope, this Ozarks farm chick thinks it's an excellent idea not to show this quote to him. Youngens are resilient, he'll bounce back quickly.
As we say here in the hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa, " ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day!!!
It sucks to have disappointments like that, but it is all part of life and growing character...I'm sure he will bounce back and be ready to go for the next competition!
um remember that old saying about, it's how you play the game? cheer him up with a big hug and some of his favorite things and there is always next time. neva give up!
I'm fond of kids losing. Not overly, just enough. I hate participation trophies. :( Went to a girl scout bowling tournament with the girls last Maonday and they gave out 3 trophies per GS age level. It was great to be able to emphasis the fun is in doing what you enjoy, meeting other girls, and having a fun day - not getting something for it. And those who didn't get a trophy feel the want to practice for next year's tournament in hopes of sharpening their skills!!
You can't blame the poor fellow for disdaining those participation medals. Kids know when something is fairly meaningless, just like grown-ups do. I bet next time he places.

I love that quote.
I hope he doesn't let this loss bother him for too long!!!
Poor guy! I agree with Busy Bee Suz!!
Love that quote. I think more children need to loose in order to learn how to try.
I love that quote! And I think that participation medal is really cool! :) Sorry he was disappointed...

Been there, done that with mixed feelings about the 'participation' awards all along the way.
The medal is pretty and so more appropriate than a trophy some feel compelled to dole out just for showing up with a mom willing to bring snacks.
I used to get ribbons... no matter what I may have done well. And I turned out okay. Sorta.

Awwww. Next time!

I hate it when they try so hard and fall short of the prize. He'll bounce back even stronger and more determined.

That's funny! Kyle loves D.M. and got me listening to him. Good, clean fun :)
