He Said; She said

When the gas guage looks like this, both Checkered and I are happy.

But when it gets to half-full, I start to think about nearby gas stations.
When it gets to half-full in Checkered's car, he doesn't even notice.

When it gets to under a quarter of a tank and the light comes on, I panic.
When it gets to under a quarter of a tank and the light comes on for Checkered, he thinks, "I can go several more miles."
When the "lo fuel!" sign comes on, I lose the ability to think reasonably.
When the "lo fuel!" sign comes on for Checkered, he thinks maybe he should stop at the gas station...sometime.

In fairness to Checkered, he has never run out of gas in the years I've known him.

Then again, neither have I.

I'm with you, by the time the gauge hits 1/4 tank, I'm looking to fill up! My ex is the same as Checkered - except he's run out more times than I care to remember (me, nope).

Here's a bit you can use on Checkered, from my mom the Mechanic (yep! She owns a repair shop!). In today's cars, the tank should get no lower than 1/4 of a tank due to the fuel pump being in the tank. Lower levels allow all the crap (sediment, etc) that settles in the tank to come into the fuel pump and this can cause costly damage!

LOL. We have the same thing here--only it's with the EZPass. My husband keeps his hermetically sealed in the foil pouch it came in. Mine just flops around all over the place in my glove compartment!

I wish someone could explain to me why my husband can fill up on the farm take and I *cannot*. The MOST unfair thing EVER.

I know I shouldn't but I have a tendency to coast into the gas station on fumes:)

same issue here... I am so surprised that mike has never run out because that poor truck stays with the little gas tank lit all the time... and this is the man who PREACHES to me about never letting mine get low ect LOL.

You guys are both so funny.
I tend to put it off as long as possible. Getting gas is such a time sucker.
The coach also puts it off and did run out of gas recently and I rescued him.
So he owes me.

Ha, ha! I live my life there! I am always like, 'God, please - I know I was stupid, but please just help me to get to a gas station and I'll never do it again!' lol...

Thanks for posting on my blog! Ouch, for sure. That definitely would be painful! I def. remember feeling like I had no place in a world of couples...w/ friends, in church...it was a lonely time and it hurt alot, too. Thanks for sharing and being so honest!

I see there are no teen boys driving at your house yet.
Once that happens the needle will never be on full again.

LOL!! Were you writing about me?? This is exactly what I do too and every time the light comes on, my hubby laughs at me, that I go gas up immediately!

Ah, gas gauge anxiety is familiar here, too. Just last night I dreamed I ran out. No yolk.

When I first started driving, I turned off of a major street and on to my own street and then BAM. The car . . . just . . . stopped. Inexplicably. Just refused to go on.

So I called my dad in a panic and he said, slowly, "have you checked the gas gauge?"

EMBARRASSING!

Sounds exactly like what goes on here!

I usually wait as long as possible hoping the price will go down. It usually does the day after I fill up.
My car tells me how many miles I can go until the tank is empty. I usually don't let it get below 5.

OMgosh- that's my husband I to a T! I'm always like "I NEEEEED gas , I don't want to run out next time I'm in the cra" and he's like, what's it on - a half tank?! ;)

I think Checkered has to give up his man card for that; it's very unmanly to go lower than a quarter tank, isn't it? (Maybe you could give him yours?haha)
