FF: Emotional Roller Coaster

*SO there's a difference between clarified and softened butter? Is that why my cookie dough became pudding?

The butter problem didn't matter too much though because 1) my phone rang, 2) I multi tasked and tried to peel potatoes while baking and talking and the peeler slipped - ouch! and then 3) we got involved looking at the potato that looked like a butt.

The smoke reminded me that I forgot to set the oven timer.

*Know what makes me sad? People who say, "Of course we budgeted for Christmas. Didn't you?"

*Know what makes me sadder? The dad who told me that he has $100,000 in his daughter's college fund. She just began high school.

*Know what makes me saddest? That Weight Watchers works better than any diet pill. That one really could make me cry.

*Do any of you know where I safely stored the decal I bought for Christmas decorating that says something about such a big miracle in such a small baby?? I'm hoping to find it before we take the decorations down.

*My youngest son's teacher is doing something quite lovely in class. Each child has a secret pal this month. They are to look for positive ways to enhance the other child's day and then next week, each child will write a letter of affirmation to his or her secret pal. Wouldn't you like to be in that class?

*On a similar note, my extremely strong-will child was destroying my day this week. Everything was an argument and he wasn't about to give in at all on anything. A very nice woman watched my child assert his will aggressively, and then the woman turned to me and said, "You know, don't you, that this doesn't mean you're a bad mom?" My heart was warmed by her spontaneous affirmation.

Has anyone warmed your heart this week ?

What a lovely comment from that mum.. it's good to know we're not completely making a mess of things with our kids.

Those muffins look like my food every day... crispy round the edges. Delicious!

that is neat what your son's class is doing!! Helps them focus on someone else. I also liked that comment the lady said to you; so much more nicer than judging your ability to parent just on one interaction she saw between you and your son

I didn't know there was a clarified butter, now I'm curious what it is

enjoy the weekend!

We've had cookies just like those!

What a great thing your son's teacher is doing--love those caring teachers.

Nice comment from the lady, and so true. We have 4 daughters and one of them was our 'extremely strong willed' child...life was never predictable!

I enjoyed my visit from Friday Fragments. You can visit me here: http://emptynest1.blogspot.com/ if you'd like!

Have you checked the fridge for that decal? What about the drawer that everything goes into when company is coming?

Well, for one, you warmed my heart when I read that fun post. :-)

Secondly, it has warmed my heart immensely that our son-in-law loves the study of the Civil War as much as I do and was excited when I suggested that we attend the 150th anniversary and re-enactment in July of 2013 at Gettysburg. It especially warms my heart because I can tell that our daughter thinks we're both nuts. LOL

well at least I know my cookies aren't the only ones the chickens ate this week. I love what your sons teacher is doing, now that is a great way to celebrate Christmas.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope that you have a great and blessed afternoon.
Budget, what's that? I just get what I can when I can and hope for the best. :o)

Nothing makes me happier than another Mom (or anyone) making you feel better about yourself.
You always do your best, even when you don't think you do.

Before it gets too late in the season, I must let you know how much you mean to me. :)
I love your blog comments.
I love your face book comments.
I adore reading your posts.
You are very inspirational.
You are awesome.

I was a strong willed child. (I'm sorry Mom!) What a lovely gesture from a stranger. Hopefully I warmed someones heart today. I told a woman at our local grocery store that I hoped she'd make store manager some day - she's that good.

When I come to your blog I just never know what I'll see that will make me laugh. I always make sure that I'm not taking a drink of anything. The butt potato would have made me choke on my drink LOL

At least you are in good company because all 3 of your "sad things" make me sad too!

Sounds like you took cooking classes from me. I would do something like that.

$100,000 ??? Are you kidding me?

I've heard something similar to the secret pal idea. The schools here do something like that. Nifty idea.

How sweet of that woman to day to you! I got a hug from a customer when we had a simple $3.49 bottle of body wash in the particular scent that her granddaughter wanted in her stocking! She had been to several stores and was about to give up!

Strong willed - I've got one of those! Makes me crazy 2% of the time and the other 98% she is a joy!
