The Language of Marriage

I was washing dishes and saw a spider web strung from the side of my faucet to outer space somewhere. Deftly, I swung my finger through the web and continued to wash the dishes. But, oddly enough, the web was still there. "Good night," I thought, "my depth perception has gotten terrible." And I more slowly and carefully used my finger to swipe the web - only the web didn't break.

It was a tough strand, so I used two hands to tear the web, but the problem was that it wasn't a web. It was a leak. A leak shooting a fine spray of refreshing water right out the side of the faucet thingie.

Later, Checkered assured me he would stop and get a new faucet, and I cheerily replied, "Thanks, Sweetheart. Just be sure that it's pretty." And like a good husband should, those words stopped him in his tracks.

My man-friend and I got to discussing the faucet and the fact that Checkered was picking out a new one. My friend said, "Oh no. What that really means is that he is going to pick you up and you are going to pick-out the faucet."

"Ha! No, no, no. We have a wonderfully symbiotic marriage. What he picks out will be exactly what I would have picked out."

"You'll be at the store tonight," the friend said.

Checkered tried. He really did. Two pictures later and two thumbs down from me, he came home to retrieve me and off we went to Lowes.

The new faucet is chrome and really doesn't belong on the well-worn stainless sink, but we both like it and that's that.

P.S. Last night Checkered suggested that we put stainless sinks in the newly painted bathroom vanity. I think he was kidding, but it's quirky enough that I like the idea. What do you think?

Just be sure that it's pretty.
Nothing like that to strike fear in the heart of a man.
Stainless sinks in the bathroom. I'm not feeling it. I think it would remind me of the back room in a Chinese buffet. But don't pay too much attention to me, my sinks are about 50 years old, but they were PRETTY once.

I would never let any husband of mine deem what is pretty.... And I like the stainless sink idea;)

LOL...the exact same scenario would happen here. I like the stainless steel sink idea!!! Especially if you choose to tile the counters.

Ha! I've always "sworn" my next house would be entirely stainless steel with powerwashers and drains in each room.

I was laughing so hard at your spider web. You are too funny. This is something I would totally do also.
I love your new faucet. I would never trust my husband to pick one out...never. :)
Stainless in the bathroom? I have never thought of that...not sure if I would like it for me, but if YOU like it, then go for it!

I'd have to see your tile to know whether stainless will work in el bano. But zinc is huge for kitchen countertops right now, so why not give it a whirl?

It's a scientifically proven fact that men will only snatch the first thing they see rather than taking time to really carefully make their selections, pondering all the pros and cons and what ifs.

This also applies to ex-husbands and their new girlfriends, by the way. The first one to come along is the winner....or loser as it were.

Anyway, I love your new faucet and think the stainless one in the bathroom is a grand idea.

Of course I would have said "Pretty what? Pretty good? Pretty inexpensive? Pretty useful?"

Corrine gives me a shopping list, I INSIST that she put next to each item the PRECISE item she wants, including amount, whether it's in a can or a box or frozen, the brand, and where to find it in the store.

Otherwise, she could ask for "1 dcd tomato" and I would literally come home with a diced tomato...

Great tap! And stainless steel? Easier to clean, perhaps, than china? Or how about marble sinks??

We put in a dark gray ceramic kitchen sink a few years ago and I love it. I wonder if they make colored ceramic bathroom sinks? Sorry....I personally don't care for stainless-steel sinks....I think they are difficult to keep looking clean and nice.
