What Do I Know?

One morning recently, we found this Mutant Ninja Turtle playset on our front porch. Next to it was a case full of Magnetix. No note. No indication of the source. Just two very nice toys.

I suspect that my next door neighbor was divesting herself of the remnants of her annual visit from her grandkids, but am not sure of that.

Because I normally see the half-empty glass first before forcing myself to see the half-full glass, I felt sad because these toys have been brought to a house where Mutant Ninja Turtles and Magnetix are passe'.

How long did my children play with these things - the same things I said they wouldn't like? 6.5 hours - and that was just the first day.

Ha! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - I wouldn't let our very young son get caught up in the hoopla until it was nighttime potty training time. Getting TMNT underwear worked great :) Also learned there was going to be a 'real' TMNT at some children's store; we splurged and drove miles and miles as a special treat. He LOVED it.

Despite the lack of TMNT (and Power Ranger) overdose, Matthew's turned out quite nicely :)

Getting surprise toys is so much fun!

I love this. Your kids are great.
It reminds me of the day I found bubbles in a garage cabinet. They must have spent 2 hours blowing bubbles. A week later, I pulled out sidewalk chalk, again a few hours they spent with the chalk.
Oh, this was last summer, when they were 12 and 15!!!!

Other people's toys are even better than the toys you are trying to sell in a garage sale! "Don't sell this - I've been looking for it!"

It´s like when you say to a kid "No you are not allowed to come home early!" It´s guaranteed, that they will be home on time.... :)

Kids outgrow toys way to fast-if they play with them at all-or thats how it goes at my house.

What a cool thing to do! You never know what will appeal on a particular day, do you? Thanks for sharing.

That's brilliant! Sometimes you just need to put those toys they are tired of away and then whip them out again later on. Quite suddenly, they are fun again!
