Friday Fragments: The Food Edition

  • It's Friday!

It's time for defrag!!

Thanks to Mrs. 4's for running these memes!!!

  • Have you ever had Claude's Barbeque Brisket Marinade Sauce? If not, get yourself to El Paso, Texas and get some. I love the fragrance. I love the flavor. I love the ease. I don't love how far it is to El Paso.

  • Speaking of El Paso and Claude's: The one who introduced me to Claude's is my younger sister, Dr. Red. She has finally joined Facebook (from which I immediately stole her picture); you all should head over there and meet her.

  • Coney dogs are very popular in this area: hot dogs with a thick, meaty sauce on them. The chili is just a bit spicy; the casing on the dogs just a bit crunchy. Hold the mustard on mine, please.

  • During Pepper the Dog's behavior class this week, my 7 year old son confided to me that he absolutely loves the way the treats there smell. That would be the DOG treats. He is thinking about buying some and leaving them open under his bed so he can smell them all night.
  • I like the Cake Boss show but wish they would leave out the contrived drama and simply show us more of his magnificent creations.

  • My daughter made this cake this week:

4 eggs

2 cups shredded zucchini with peeling

3/4 cup oil

1 tsp. vanilla

1 (4 1/2 oz) instant chocolate pudding

1 1/2 tsp. instant decaffeinated coffee

1 pkg chocolate cake mix

Blend well and bake at 350 for 1 hour in a Bundt pan or 40-45 mins in a 9x13.

  • Then she made lunch for her brothers. I think I will forgive the fact that cleaning up the kitchen afterward never entered her mind.
  • And now we'll close with a reference to natural milk producers. My very middle-aged and conservative neighbor has taken to sunbathing topless in her back yard. No picture here. You'll just have to take my word for it.

The cake boss show makes me cringe. They just all talk too loud! I stopped watching it. I get enough of the "loud talk" between my two girls who live here.
I thought you were going to say your son tasted one of those treats! Hey! I tried a dog biscuit when I was younger...it was dry and tasteless.
The cake your daughter made sounds really good. I'd forgive the clean up too if one of mine were to make lunches for someone else. I usually to most of the clean up around here anyway. Oh well...

I like Cake Boss too but it DOES feel so damn facke at times. That's why I end up watching Ace of Cakes more often.

Thanks for not posting a picture of the neighbor LOL. I haven't watched the Cake Boss yet - I will have to check it out. Her cake sounds interesting...wouldn't it be nice if they would clean up too?

Dog treats under the bed? Hmmmm. Do they smell good to you too? Ewww LOL

Have a great weekend!

I'll take your mustard please! I always like extra.

As far as the dog treats smelling good, don't invite us over. My son would find them under your son's bed and eat them. Seriously. He likes them.

Love Cake Boss!

I apologize for not responding to your email...out of sorts lately. I wrote about it on my last two posts.

first time commenting on your journal; I am always intrigued with journals of unusual names so that's why I checked you out and enjoyed your entries.

this was cute to read! love what your son said about the dog treats; my 20 y/o son accidentally ate a few of our dog's treats from PetCo (the ones that look like chocolate chip cookies). He thought they were "human food". He said they tasted delicious. He worries me sometimes.

the cake your daughter made sounds delicious! I'll have to try the recipe out some time

and finally, I think your middle-aged neighbor was getting herself ready for a job I found on Craig's List (and posted on my blog); maybe she needs some extra money :)

enjoy the weekend

Thanks for sparing us that bare-breasted photo!

Your daughter makes cakes like mine does... Mine doesn't clean up either! Some of her cakes have actually been pretty good.

my daughter is a tornado in the kitchen too...hmmm. I'm a clean-as-I-go type, can't stand all the mess afterwards.
I'm going to have to check the dog treats..I've just never thought about how well they might smell/taste...then again, never mind. Have a great weekend, great photo of your sis, you look alike...very pretty!

Not sure whether to LOL or say sorry about your neighbor! That is hilarious about the dog treats! Nice having someone else cook, I rarely get that, maybe once my daughter gets a few years older!

Coney dogs - I'm hungry! And that cake sounds yummy. I need to get my 2yo up to speed on making some...

Topless neighbor - what to do? What a dilemma!

Hey did you know your sister has a halo? Oh wait that's just a plate. Tell her to settle down she's not THAT perfect. :)

I was trying to explain to somebody how I liked the reality shows where people were usually nice and just did interesting things. She told me I didn't get it.

You might have joined me after winter was over, and I usually don't talk about the dogs this time of year. It varies, but we have 33 right now. Check out these posts:

Too funny about your son and the dog treats, lolz. I remember once my little brother (around your son's age) just going for it and taking a chomp out of a dog biscuit. Needless to say, it was the first and last time but was pretty hilarious.

Sounds like you have great kiddos!

Great fragments!

I love that cake boss show.

El Paso? Why didn't you tell me about this sauce when I was only 90 miles form there? Now I'm 5000 mile (and a very soggy) drive away. :-( You've made me hungry with this Fragments post...

I love that your son wants to put dog treats under his bed because of the smell. Maybe, he will eat them in his sleep?

And your neighbor????EEEEWWWWWWWWWW

SarahHub said...

I haven't had that sauce, but I used to travel to El Paso for work, and I always liked that city!

And I agree about the Cake Boss. I like to see the cakes, but all his yelling and fake drama gets on my nerves. Do you really think that bride destroyed that cake???? Makes me nuts just thinking about it!

Hi there!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of financial piramyde, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For quite a long time, I earn money with the help of these programs.
I'm with no money problems now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and I started with funny 500 bucks.
Right now, I managed to catch a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.

Good day, sun shines!
There have were times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in big initial investment.
Now, I feel good, I begin to get real income.
It gets down to select a correct partner who uses your money in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, and shares the income with me.

You may ask, if there are such firms? I have to tell the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
