Sweet, Sweet Oxygen

The public service announcement says that asthma feels like a fish trying to breathe out of water. My daughter says it is like trying to breathe through a straw. Last night that straw got so small that I think she burst her eardrum trying to breathe. The asthma is now triggered by more things than it used to be and the attacks scare her. I guess she missed the asthma doctor's memo that said she would surely outgrow this by age 12.

Oh, poor thing! Asthma is so scary. One of my teacher friends has asthma, and was writing a children's book about having asthma and being on the soccer team. I thought that was a great topic, since so many kids have asthma!

Hi, Stopping by from SITS. I am an adult with asthema. I know exactly what your daughter is talking about. Like, you can't catch your breath. She is very brave...

Awww...the poor kid! I can't even imagine; I just have allergies/sinus problems and it gets hard enough to breathe. Was the doctor factoring in our increasingly cruddy air when he said she would "outgrow" it by age 12?

I know that feeling too well. Bless her heart. And her lungs. Hope it gets better soon...

I don't know what's scarier -- how she must feel or how you must feel watching. Prayers for her and you!

Stopping by from SITS --- I love the layout of your blog - just looking at the colors made me smile. Best wishes to you and your daughter with her asthma --- Sometimes I wonder what those "should grow out of" are based on...

I am so sorry to hear this. How frustrating for her and YOU.
I hope she feels better soon.
I will take a few more days of my sickness if I can take them from HER.

OH I hate asthma, it's a terrible desease. I feel your pain. My son was in and out of the ER constantly as a child...starting at 6 months old. He's 43 now and still has chronic asthma. Luckily, the treatment and meds are so much more effective now compared to the late 60's.

That's awful! I feel very sorry for her (and for you, since I'm sure you worry alot.) Here's hoping for a cure in your lifetime.

In our house it's Excema on my poor kid. Oh yeah, she'll outgrow it--before she's 90?
