So Much Progress

A year ago he told us that he never felt anything inside.  "Don't you understand? When people ask me if I'm happy or sad, I don't know because I feel nothing."

One year later, he says that when he's at school it feels like he's smiling inside, but it just doesn't show on the outside very much when someone takes his picture.

That's why this smile melted his mom's heart.

P.S. He has also learned that if you rarely show emotion on your face, you can often win when playing the 7-Up game at school.  See?  It's all about perspective :)

What a sweet boy.

I'm glad he's able to smile on the inside at school now. What a beautiful outside smile he'll have when that day comes :)

He is beautiful like his mama!

Beautiful picture, beautifully written words, I am glad your son is smiling on the inside, because that is the important thing, smiling if it's done only on the outside means nothing, but on the inside means everything

I love that he feels like smiling in school! At least you know he´s having a good time, even if he can´t show it well. He´s a cutie! :)

Why wasn't he smiling before? I'm sorry if I missed something earlier... I've been trying to check out older posts to find out. My son tells me too that he just feels sad inside, and we're trying to help him. I feel he's making progress too but it's so hard sometimes.

i've just found your blog and also have a son who just isn't happy. would love to read your story... he's making steps towards happy, but it's so easy for him to fall into melancholy.
