Confession is the First Step

It's industrial.  It's plain.  It's nothing at all like some of the neighbors' deck areas or sunrooms.  We really tried to live without it.  Last winter, when some serious wind gusts took down our last canopy, we thought about our neighbors who had to look at it every day.  We thought about how it cut some of my beloved morning light into the kitchen.  We thought about upgrading or simply doing without.

Last week-end, we put another one up.  We sat in the shade on our rockers, listened to the fountain, watched our boys try to kill each other on the trampoline, and finally admitted the truth:
we really are canopy people.

Perhaps our neighbors will be speaking to us again by the end of the summer.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being 'canopy people. We are 'front porch people' but still don't have our front porch built. After 22 years of living at this place we did finally get the footings poured last fall, so there is yet hope.

Enjoy your canopy! :-)

I am soooo with you on this one... Our neighbors don't really like our carport cluttered as it is with tables, chairs, Christmas lights, a fountain and the kids toys. I'm sure they want us to park our car in it like the good lord intended... But hey it's our porch, it is the play room, it is where our daughters invent and our friends gather and it is our little slice of heaven.

You just tell them about sun protection and heat exhaustion, they will feel guilty about thinking anything different than loving your canopy ;)

You have got to do what you've got to do.
Enjoy your canopy, but please don't let those boys kill each other!

I love it! We have a canopy in the corner of the garden....where I sit and watch dh work! LOL Sometimes, I let him join me for something cool to drink.;)

We really do enjoy our cozy canopy though. It is like having an extra room without the expense.

Have a blessed week!
