The Menu and GIVEAWAY!!

HEY: DID YOU ENTER MY CONTEST? AND YES. I AM YELLING!

I love cake. It calls to me like nothing else I've ever experienced. Okay, that's an untruth. Ice cream works equally well.

My mom was always very creative with my birthday cakes. They reflected whatever my interests were at the time. A fire truck (yes, I was a tomboy) one year. Another year it was the Easter Bunny because my birthday was on Easter.

Then I grew up and got married and Checkered doesn't bake, so we went through some dry spells at birthday time. Then I discovered the Michigan Bumpy cake.

You gutter minds may just keep your comments to yourselves (actually, you can email them to me because I would really love to read them, but I am trying to be mature this week blogwise)
If the Bumpy Cake doesn't work, we could just go to Tim Hortons since my Lenten abstinence is ALMOST over and THo's will soon be back in my life.

Then again, I do believe the Dairy Maid may be opening soon.

Maybe I should just head to Alaska and have Miss Ladies of the House whip up one of her magical creations.

Too many decisions for an indecisive person.

What is your favorite birthday cake?

DID I MENTION MY GIVEAWAY....?

Mom always made me an angel food birthday cake....for obvious reasons.

Goodness, I've never seen anything like that Bumpy Cake. What are the bumps made of....cream cheese?? Gutters have a whole 'nuther connotation around a dairy farm, and I certainly hope my mind is not in there.

Enjoy your birthday eve eve.

Mmmm, chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. It can be any shape it wants to be. A side of chocolate chip ice-cream would be nice too.

How did cream cheese get into this? Think of a giant Ding-Dong. Behold, the Bumpy Cake! Got any milk over there?

I love the look of the bump cake...ding dongs? LOVE THEM.
I am not a big cake eater...but I do like a nice lemon cake or icecream cake. But really, I won't turn down any of yours either.

I make a richer version of the traditional Texas Sheetcake that is called Fudge Cake. It is TO DIE FOR!!

But, I have another version of cake that I'm really enjoying making right no -- cake balls. So fun to take to a potluck or serve to guests and just pretty darn cute.

btw, Happy Birthday! I'm wayyyyy older than you so that must make me a reallllly good BFF! :)

My ex's and my birthday were 3 days apart and our anniversary was in that week too, along with Valentine's Day. Mom always made German Chocolate or Carrot Cake for him and usually Angel Food for me. Ahhh, wonderful memories :)

The sign looks very good and a great garden underneath. Here usually something looks dry or uninviting. Now I am going to check if you are near TN because they seemed to have lovely streets when my husband was there.
