FF: Discombobulated

~She was very sick and we were rushing to get to the clinic when she brushed her teeth. My poor girl, who may have been without her contacts, brushed with Desitin. Diaper rash ointment in the mouth is not a good thing.

~And so we begin yet another week of:
Mommy's Idea
I do love Friday Fragments so much that I am considering blogging only on Fridays. Seriously.

~The other day, as windchills dipped below zero, someone asked me why we all continued to live in Michigan. I replied that we were here because we still had jobs. The woman froze and glared at me. It was such an odd reaction to something I never intended as bragging.

~The unnatural affection I feel for the new Walmart by my house is a bit unsettling.

~Men need to stop wearing clogs and crocs. Right now.

~Men also need to stop wearing slippers to my classes.

~I love the students I worked with this term who were always agreeable and thought English class wasn't as bad as they had feared. Godspeed to you all (or most of you, anyway.)

~In yet another rush to get out the door one day, I was slightly annoyed when my 7 year old continued to ask for his sunglasses. In my most lecture-ific voice, I reminded him that if he put his sunglasses away like I do, he would know exactly where they were. "Now, get in the car! You'll have to go without your sunglasses today!!" Still he remained rooted to one spot. "But, Mommy, why are YOU wearing MY sunglasses?" And so I was.

~A friend from my college days lives in Maine. He noticed on Facebook that my son's tie was crooked and he reached all the way through the Internet to Michigan to fix that tie. I am amazed!

~And finally, my youngest boy has not been able to complete any writing assignments at school for quite some time and we are on a long journey to understand and to diagnose this and some other Asperger-like symptoms. However, this same sweet child wrote us a story one night in his bed and then wrapped it and put it under the tree all by himself. It was truly a labor of love and should be about the most precious gift I've ever received.

Wow...that tie-touch-up is amazing! Great friend.

I very much agree with you on the men wearing crocs thing. In fact, I don't like them any bigger than a child's size 10.

I adore your Friday fragments. You make me laugh...your poor daughter with the desitin. It only makes me wonder: who in your house has diaper rash? :)
Then at the bring on pure sweetness. I love letters written by children. I know you will cherish this one forever.
Being happy about having a job is good...and not bragadocious either.
Happy Friday.

This is my first visit to your blog...I love the festive design! Great fragments too, by the way.

I'd just like to say that I thought the first photo was great, I never even noticed the tie:) But now you could say it's picture-perfect and that your friend sure has an eye for

Wishing you a happy day and hooray for Fridays, for Christmas break, and family!

The Desitin story made me cringe. Makes me feel not so yucky for my biggest snafu of having grabbed my son's toothbrush by mistake once or twice.

If you're in that Walmart and find my ipod, will you let me know please?

Ohhhhh your poor daughter brushing her teeth with Desitin!

Amen to men needing to stop wearing clogs and crocs. Right now.

Wearing slippers to class? What, are they preparing for being little old men? ;)

My favorite class was my Honors English class - it makes all the difference to have an awesome teacher! :)

I about choked on my coffee in a fit of laughter reading about your son's sunglasses - I've said the same thing to Princess Nagger about putting things away like I do so she'd be able to find them...but you were wearing his sunglasses? Priceless!!

That tie adjustment is way too cool!

And Awwwwwww! How cool that your youngest boy wrote you a story, wrapped it and put it under the tree all by himself. That gave me goosebumps! :)

Enjoy your weekend! :)

I just realized that this post has been sitting in the dock for what seems like a week. Was it just yesterday?!?!?

I don't know what my favorite is - the magical tie-fixin' (WOW) or the story placed under the tree by your sweet son. I think that one.

But the tie is a near second! Wow. Although it WAS cute crooked :)

Such a good-looking family you've got....

I have a new thing to add to my list of things I'm thankful for now- I'm thankful that I've never brushed my teeth with diaper rash creme!

I think that's so neat that your son wrote that story and put it under the tree. I probably would've started sobbing like a baby *L*

Love, love, love the fixed tie!

I also love that you love to fragment, because it means I "see" you regularly :)

Believe it or not, just an hour or so ago, a cousin shared the story of how her sister started to brush her teeth with prescription hand cream this week. Hilarious!

I don't know who perpetuated the idea that Crocs are cool in the first place. I don't have anything against people who wear them (I've heard they're comfortable) but they're just not my thing...

Hope your Christmas was terrific! :)
