Ode to the Death of Logic

On Sunday night my daughter went bowling. When her father and I picked her up afterward, she casually mentioned that she was wearing one shoe that wasn't hers. When she turned in her bowling shoes, the clerk couldn't find my daughter's shoe and said there was no other option than for my daughter to take some other person's shoe home.

Oh, no. No. NO!

Her determined father marched back inside and worked a much better deal. The deadline is tonight at 5:30. Find her shoe or write a check. (Honestly? If that shoe was worn home by someone else, I'm done with it anyway. You should have seen the condition of the one left at the bowling center).

I just can't figure out what confounds me more:

The bowling center's admission that they lose shoes all the time or my daughter's willingness to wear mismatched shoes home.

The main reason why I hate bowling is because you have to rent bowling shoes. I hate shoes that have been worn by someone else, and I would NEVER ever want to walk home in them, even if it is only one! ;-)
Loved the story though!!

That is hysterical. Talk about a State of the Union. We really are in trouble aren't we? Disinfect her feet.

Or a used one.

When I was teaching, I was amazed at the brand new shoes and jackets "lost" in the "lost and found" bucket every year. Gorgeous stuff. I went shopping all the time.

I can so see that happening with my son - except that he wouldn't mention it until the next day.

Gee. Wonder what happens if somebody steals your car from the parking lot.

lol, that cracks me up... the fact they were willing to give you someone else's shoe is crazy...lol

here in hungary they let you keep your shoes... so you don't have to worry about loosing them :)

When we bowl or ice skate we tie our 2 shoes together with a durable knot that would take an intelligent person to untie. That usually does the trick because there aren't too darn many of those buggers working in those places.
