This week all the knowledge I possess has come courtesy of the adolescents in my life. Here is what I've learned:
That MY solution for a daughter's broken heart is food with lots of sugar in it.
That my daughter much prefers friends who tell off the heartless guy. How can cinnamon bread compare to that?
That if one knows she did not get the best hair ever, it will be confirmed by a son who says, "I really liked your hair better before."
That living with a child with sensory defensiveness is incredibly difficult.
That if one knows she did not get the best hair ever, it will be confirmed by a son who says, "I really liked your hair better before."
That living with a child with sensory defensiveness is incredibly difficult.
That if the Tooth Fairy forgets her cash and has to borrow from the piggy bank of the toothless child in order to leave a little something under his pillow, said Fairy WILL forget to pay him back. And then she won't be able to remember which boy it was.
That of the laptops being used by my students to "take notes" during class, 80% will have Facebook up instead.
That when my children walk or ride bikes the one mile to school, they are in a much happier mood than if I drive them.

Ah...the joys of parenthood. So been down the tooth fairy road before. Once had to tell my daughter that the tooth fairy must have been really, really busy and didn't have time to stop, but that she would probably be there the next night (dear lord...bad, bad parenting moment)
I'm still in my PJs, guess I'd better hurry up and jump in the shower LOL
I haven't ridden a bike in so long, but I do remember that crooked underwear contributes to poor riding. Good point!

I think your solution to a broken heart is absolutely the best! :-) I tried to fix my daughter's problems for years before it occurred to me that she only wanted someone to whine to. I still don't get it, but I'm trying to be better about not fixing everything. :-)
I'll take your solution to a broken heart any day! I think my heart is broken!
Life with kids - entertaining and, well exhausting! ;)
Ill fitting underpants can really wreck a day...even more than a broken heart!
I love those friends that will tell the boy off too!
I'm still reading all your posts, although you'd never know it because of the lack of comments coming from my fingers. It's nothing personal!!! Just a dire lack of time.
And I'm still enjoying every single one.
When did you say you were coming to NC???

Awwww. Hugs to that beautiful girl...she is too good for him. And the rest? Too true.
Tooth Fairy - she is also known as the Forgetful Fairy.
FB during class - what grade is this? These kids are our future. Are they playing Farmville? What's going on.
Just like you, I did not know anything until I had teenagers.
LoL at the tooth fairy!!
LOL on the tooth fairy!! she might need to leave herself a reminder next time of which boy she visited (and borrowed from :)

enjoy the weekend :)

The drama otherwise known as teendom and high school. Can't wait until I can change the channel.
Underpants and bike accidents. Now there's a combo I never saw before. LOL
Just stopping by and following your blog. Have a great weekend!

I think one of the best things about growing older is no longer having to endure all that young love gone wrong angst :-) I got my hair cut yesterday too and it definitely qualifies for a liked it better before comment as well.
It's always a roller-coaster, isn't it? But at least now, as moms with a few years under our belts, we know -- a little better -- what to expect.
And we also know that our worst day will be always be out done by our best day, if we're patient and wait.
The trick is remembering this when we are in the throes of our worst hour. It always gets better. Always.
Oh, the drama of all that hard-won knowledge!
Haven't we all been down this road? The 'bad' parenting moments are inked in my head forever. But the kids? They remember the good parenting moments. YAY YAhooo!
Love it. :)
My heart goes out to your daughter :( Poor thing. Is she over it yet?
haha on the underwear thing.
My students don't get the Schoolhouse Rock stuff, either...It's a doggone shame!
I posted a link on Twitter today for some socks that are supposed to be great for kids with sensory issues. Can't remember what it's called, but you could find it and enter the giveaway. Good luck with that.
