I detest grocery shopping. Abhor it. Despise it. It involves having to plan (not a good thing in my book) and spending lots of money for something I can't even wear. But yesterday, on a perfectly gorgeous fall day, I decided to choose happiness to accompany me on that odious task. Why happiness?
- Because we are employed and therefore able to pay the bill,
- Because my back is strong enough to push the full cart,
- Because we will have 48 hours where no one will say, "There's nothing to eat in this house!"
- Because we have 3,000,000 grocery stores in a one mile radius from our house- which is good
- Because I will have to go back tomorrow since I never use a list,
- That is why I choose happiness (okay, maybe not that last dot.)
Now what makes YOU happy today?

So true. A positive attitude can change everything. Thanks for the reminder!
Choosing happiness is so important. I usually hate grocery shopping too. I'll look at it differently next time.
Those are all great reasons to be thankful and happy. Great post!
Great Post-I'll Def. have to think of that next time I go buy grocerys!
thanksfor putting it in this type of perspective; I too abhor it, which is funny because I like to eat......
thanks for the gentle reminder to be thankful in all things :)
betty
Thanks for this AWESOME reminder!!!!
It makes me happy to have a happy wife doing the grocery shopping!
Appreciating the things we susually take for granted makes life so much better.
I love grocery shopping. :)
As a friend of mine once said, 'Life is what you make of it, Buster!' and I've never forgotten it. :-)
Even with grocery shopping, and I agree it's tedious, we have so much to be thankful for!
I know of a family who shops once a month, having planned out meals for a MONTH, then takes their list and shops. Oh, what discipline!
I try to stay positive when I have to grocery shop. It helps if I leave my husband at home, he is a grocery grump.
I find I am a much happier grocery shopper if I stay away from Wal-Mart!
I couldn't have said it better myself ~ it is also one of my least favorite things to do!
Thanks for the reminder of how fortunate I am.
Although I'm still not sure I'd put it in the happiness column. :)
Just sayin'
Nice!
In a recent talk by John Bytheway and he said we should wake up and tell ourselves, "I think I'll be delightful today."
I'm working on it. ;-)
I have more reasons to be happy than I can ever count. Happy snacking;)
I agree with you on all points...I loathe it too, but am lucky I can do it.
hey, where the heck are your reusable bags?
I always enjoyed grocery shopping until I became a mother and then it was anything but fun. It's got better but there is always the possibility of a meltdown and everything takes forever as I am putting as many things back on the shelves as I take off, thanks to my willing "helper" who constantly adds her own ideas of essential items to the cart :-)
just happy to be...everything else is cake!
It really is the smallest things that can make us the happiest!
Oh! I'm with you on the hating the grocery shopping thing! I used to insist my husband come with me, because I found the task so odious I couldn't face it alone. And then I had a couple of kids. Now I grocery shop alone late at night and consider it quality "me" time. My how things have changed;p
I like grocery shopping. With or without a list. My wife hates it.
And just like your household, we hear the same thing too. Even with a kitchen full of food, there still is never anything to eat.
And no matter how thorough a list is made, something is ALWAYS forgotten.
Good for you--since the shopping HAS to be done, why not be happy doing it!
Got your message on the Halibut dish. I hope you like it as much as we do. When you are eating it close your eyes and pretend you are visiting me up north, O.K.?
