My Middle Name is NOT Fundraiser

I like Scouting.  Really.  It provides my sons with terrific experiences and learning opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have.  That's why I volunteer my time with our local pack.  That's also why I pay dues.  And it's why we pay for summer camp and any other field trips.  I even like the mom who volunteers her time to coordinate fundraising for our pack.  BUT I HATE SELLING POPCORN!!!!

Go on now.  Tell me all about how much of the popcorn sales come back to the local level.  Tell my boys what marvelous prizes they can win if they sell but $600 or $1100 or $12,000,000 worth of the stuff.  Tell me how it's my duty as a leader and parent to support our programs.  I get it all, but that doesn't change the way I feel about fundraising.

So why am I happy??

Unbalanced bottom line or not, this fundraising popcorn is leaving my house tonight.

Wouldn't that make anyone smile?

What is it that's making you smile?

What's making me smile right now is that the fundraising popcorn is leaving your house. LOL Other than that, my cats waking me up this morning and the dogs who are waiting for their breakfast are making me smile right now. :-) I think of the Creator who thought up those creatures and had the power to execute His plan. It's amazing!

Hooray for popcorn leaving your house! I will not be the one to preach to you about fundraising...I share your sentiment.

I bought a big bag of the chocolate and a big toffee one. In Connecticut. I cannot imagine having all those huge cartons in my house. You are a saint.

Oh happy days to get all that popcorn out of your house :) I am dreading next week when my kids bring home their fundraiser stuff from school... First we sell the stuff and then have to deliver it when it comes... oie! All for a good cause right? ha ha

I did something like that for a fundraise at my youngest daughter's school. We were selling chocolates though.
We got our shipment and I divided it up according to the orders, left it sitting there so when we all got home from school/work the stuff could be delivered.
BUT...what I got home to was a lot of candy wrappers all over the front room and torn up bags and boxes. My daughters dog had gotten into the candy and ate most of it!
I told everyone I would give their money back (and still send the money to the school) but they all declined, saying they would rather contribute and NOT have the calories.
PS...the dog was fine, even though he ate mega amounts of choclate!

I so get you on this.
I did the same thing with girl scout cookies.
On the upside...I LOVE the boy scout popcorn and bought a bunch!

Oh wow!!! I was lame this popcorn season for scouts! :( I song over $1200 at show and sell, but just didn't feel the love for my little to have anyone fill out the sheet. Were you the popcorn Kernel??? Brave SOUL if you were! LOL

Oh that would make me smile too! I'm glad my kids are older and I don't have to sell any of that crappy holdiay catalog stuff anymore!

I'm stopping by from the Over 40 Bloggers group.

A) That your house looks suspiciously like mine. But I can't blame popcorn.

Funny that your talking about fund raising. I am not a fund raiser either. but when I asked for help for my daughter I couldn't believe the response. It has been amazing and I am grateful, happy, blessed and all of those wonderful feelings. Scouting is the best!

I would have to turn away anyone selling popcorn as I cannot have the stuff.

Treasure, commitee chair, assistant scout master, merit badge counsouler, Christmas tree lot chair, pop-corn organizer and chair.......that's me. Oh I know what you mean.
Our Troop sells pop-corn, Christmas Trees, pumpkins and cookbooks. Camp is paid for, dues is paid for, most outings are paid for but we are a boy scout troop so it's different then cub scouts. Soon it'll get easier. Well sorta. There's still fund raisers but it goes into the indivual accounts so you don't have all those extras.
Chin up, when you have more parents invovled it's easier. When your boy gets older that is.
Take care and God Bless!!!

And I hate buying it--It's so danged expensive! I would much rather just cut you a check, which is what I do for Girl Scouts who stop by with cookie order forms. That said, I did cave and buy some danged popcorn this year; he was just so danged cute, and his pitch was awesome. :)
