For two months he has said, "My heel really hurts."
And I said, "Uh huh."
But I thought, "It's just a little bruise thing. It's not a big deal."
After school on Friday, I gave in and took him to the doctor even though I dreaded the bill that would follow in the mail.
I heard the doctor say,
"Growth plate injury."
"Very serious."
"Risk of permanent damage without treatment."
"Very glad you brought him in when you did."
That's when I had to eat my words, both spoken and unspoken.

Oh my! I hope rapid healing takes place. Do you have any idea how this happened? Keep us posted. and try to have a good weekend.
BTW, on your sidebar it says, 'exercising caution in all ways except literally.' That reminds me of one of my favorite fictional detectives, Albert Campion, who says, 'I am never more serious than when I am joking.' (I think)
I can't count tbo Okay, uh-huh'd" my girls when they told me about pains.
We're just Moms after all!
hoping for a speedy recovery!! Did the doctor say why it happened? Did your son injure it in some way prior?
It is hard to figure out as moms what to do. Do we take, do we wait it out, etc. We just do the best we can.
betty
But what a cool cast!! Hope things heal quickly!!
Yikes! Glad you took him in!
have mercy!
glad you gave in... hugs
being a mom is hard!
Oh my! Do not blame yourself, when someone says their heel hurts the last thing you are going to think of is this type of injury. I hope your son makes a fast recovery.
I guess there's some good here - you now know that your son has a pretty high pain threshold.
