What does M stand for?
Could there possibly be anything more fascinating than a state where each resident holds up his or her hands to show where on the "map" his or her home is?
It completely confused me when I first moved to Michigan and wanted to know where a city was and everyone in the room would hold up a hand. But how great is a state which is shaped just like a couple of hands!
Want to know where I live in Michigan?
Go here to find out what else M stands for.

Love, love, love the hand/map explanation. It makes perfect sense! Thank you for sharing. I'd love to visit the UP sometime. From Detroit to Ohio is about the extent of my experience with Michigan.

How fun!
I'm trying to figure out what body part I can use to show where I live in NC! I'm pretty sure I'd have to lie down first....

That is so funny!!!
I suppose for Florida, I would have to use my foot? Or my hand and forearm? I am so confused now...
For Texas, we could use my backside.....
I've always thought the hand map was very cool!
Never heard of that before.. well never been to Michigan but perhpas soon!! Thanks for sharing, I'll be 'a head' with the travel info!!
It looks like Northern Michigan needs a nail clipping. Perhaps those are just the early spring weeds.
I think Virginia is somewhere betweent the index finger and the thumb!

Yay! It looks like we are neighbors ^)^ I'am here in Oakland county and my first time to arrived here in MI they show me their palm, to know where I am. I also show them the letter D to show where my place in the Philippines is ^)^. Happy Wednesday!

I LOVE the hand-thing for Michigan. you can sort of do the same thing for NYS - thumb to the sky - but Long Island would be lost.

Oh, how wonderful! LOL! I can't do that with my country - or my county!
(I'd love you to visit my blog, but it's down at the moment because my host server was hacked. Should be back tomorrow - they're working on it)
Haha, you can use your arm to pinpoint where you live on Cape Cod. I live on the elbow :)
First time I ever heard of that! But it makes perfect sense.
I agree with what ChrisJ said; this is the first time I have heard of this, but I do agree, it does make perfect sense. Now I'm going to do that thing with my hands and figure out what city you live in :)

Never heard of this, but I like the simplicity of it.
Interesting. Isn't there a trick for learning the multiplication tables for the number nine using your fingers?
Yep, that's just how my little pea brain works...:/
