FF: Things I've Learned to Accept

~That when a 17 year old boy tells our daughter that Checkered and I are "effin' cool" I should regard it as a compliment.

~That I should have bought an oil company twenty years ago.

~That some moms can put on a garbage bag, hiking boots, and a trench coat and look sexy.

~That I can't.

~That I could  happily outfit myself from the Tractor Supply store.

~Do you see now how big the un-sexiness problem really is???

~That my kids prefer restaurant chili to mine.

~That my kids prefer ANY restaurant food to mine.

~That my children will always shock me with their comments.  My youngest son recently came to me with a tampon and said he couldn't decide if it was a pen or part of a Lego-type-thingie.  Then, the next day, my middle son said, "I pray you never have to see Daddy naked."

What else have I learned to accept?

~That my dog will always prefer eating a piece of coal to dog food.

~That I am an expert at interpreting teen girl speak.

The daughter speaks:
"I want you to come with me to the choir banquet, Mom.  You can sit with Jen's mom.  The dancing begins at 8."

The interpretation:
"Other parents are going to be there and I don't want to be the only one without a parent in case I need money for something.  Jen and I have thoughtfully found seats for you and her mom so that Jen and I don't have to interact too much with you all.  Please go home at 7:55 before the dancing begins.  You are free to pick me up at 10 when the fun is over."

Like most wise parents, you have developed your interpreting skills quite well.

Yes, despite the effin.......if a kid says you're cool. It's a compliment. At my age, I know.

Shhhh.....I like the tractor store too.

Quit feeding Pepper your cooking and bring him along with the rest of the family to the restaurant.

Have a nice weekend. :)

Definitely a compliment.

I love your son's comment about hoping you never have to see dad naked.

I have an unsexy problem too. In my mind, sweats and t-shirts are my friends. In the real world... not so much.

I don't have the daughter to try and understand but a son, their words are might weird but he makes me understand.
I too am very happy with tractor store clothes, much more comfy and affordable.
I love all your comments, so cool to read them this morning.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day today.
God Bless!!

A great deal of sexiness is directly exuded from your mind. If you feel sexy, you will be.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Oh your round-ups of the week are always your best posts and this one is a corker. My daughter prefers any food to my cooking, even when I make Kraft M&C at home she is less enthusiastic about it than the exact same thing served up to her in a restaurant.....

I think your interpretation of your daughter's invitation is spot on, but she does look really lovely so how can you resist even so?!?

What do I have to do to get you into the garbage bag, trench coat and hiking boots outfit? It makes me tinglely just thinking about it.

Yeah, I still speak a bit of teenager, so that sounds right...ha!

You and your family make me laugh so hard. I pray that you don't have to see " Daddy" naked too.

Get over the sexy have been pregnant FOUR times. Enough said.

Your daughter is so a real woman, she is thinking these things out ahead of time. So you don't have to. :)
have a great weekend!

GREAT pic!

Your middle son's comment about your husband is hilarious! I can't stop laughing!

Alas, I too, am not one of those moms who looks sexy in a garbage bag, hiking boots, and trench coat. Maybe I should use a Hefty garbage bag instead of generic. Maybe that's my problem.

"I pray you never have to see Daddy naked." -- now that is hysterical!

That's really what it translates to huh? I would've blown it. I would have read it as, "Mom, I reeeeally want you to be there and I want you right by my side through every moment".

So have you? Seen his daddy nekked? ;-) hysterical!
