FF: Choosing to Smile

In class a while back we were discussing the concept of continuous and continual.  I asked the students for an example of continuous  and a girl answered, "My period."  I actually blushed and then I felt sorry for her because she was either very sick or going to fail the vocab test.

This week's teaching goof was that I thought  I wrote "frag" on the board.  You know it!  I really wrote "fag"  AND referred to it several times without seeing the mistake.

At the beginning of the school year, I invited myself on my daughter's 10 minute walk to the bus stop.  She told me she didn't need me, and she didn't.  I went anyway.  That walk has become absolutely precious to me now as we walk and chat.  Now it's my daughter asking every morning at 6:25, "Ready?"

I used to do my best to avoid seeing or hearing Michelle Duggar on television.  Ironically, I intentionally never miss that show now.  Okay.  I'll admit that I respect her.

Just so you know, I do love Fresca.

And the final fragment: we went to Curriculum Night at our boys' schools this week.  At the end of the evening we were looking at the writing samples in our youngest son's class and found our son's paragraph on the wall.  It was a beautiful tribute to his dad and listed all the ways his dad showed love. By the end of the paragraph we had misty eyes ... when ... oops, we discovered that there are two boys in there with the same first name.  OUR boy wrote about Niagara Falls.

Now, come on with me and let's go blog hopping.

What a fun post. I laughed at the girl with her continuous period. Poor kid. I bet you could write a book on the 'oops' things that happen when you're teaching. I hope you always jot them down. And you can share them with us!

Awwwww, sorry about "Niagara Falls", a great kid always knows how to burst their parent's bubble!

I loved the gals comment about her continuous period, poor thing I know how she feels. I'm havin' continuous menopause! Heeehehehe!
Truly, I just turned 58 Tuesday...enough already. :o)

God bless and you have a super weekend girl!

My little brush with fame - I know the Duggars. In real life. Michelle is just as sweet as she seems on TV.

Sometimes my period feels continuous too.....

I love that you instigated walking to the bus stop with your daughter each morning and that now she asks you if you are ready. How wonderful to have that time to chat and even more wonderful that she enjoys it too. That is lovely.

I laughed at the story of your youngest son's essay being about Niagara Falls - I guess it is a pretty awe inspiring place :-)

Walking to the bus with your daughter to chat is very nice. My husband and dog meet me at the bus stop when I come home from work everyday and we walk home together. It's really nice!

The dad essay was so nice, sorry it wasn't your son's. That was funny!

Stopping by from Friday Fragments.

I can't decide which of these is the best. They're all so good. I'm sure Mrs 4444 will be delighted with these, and you just might find yourself with an award.

What a fun post, I enjoyed reading it! Sorry about the essay, but I'm sure your son loves you just as much, only difference is he was inspired by another subject!
I think that walk to the bus stop is something you're going to cherish forever!

I misread the "10 minute walk to school" as 10 mile walk to school. I thought that was a bit excessive! I read it a few times before I finally saw minute instead of mile :)

Fresca - Yum and Niagara Falls has never been so funny.

Your Niagra Falls fail was the best.

But don't keep us in suspense! What is the difference between continuous and continual? ;-)
